I write in support of Linda Weatherford for the Klamath Falls City Schools Board of Education. Weatherford has the experience, insight, and compassion to help inform the future of our schools.

As a community advocate, Weatherford has regularly put those marginalized and “left out” of our community conversations first. A lifelong resident of rural Oregon, she has the insight into what our populations need to strive in their adulthood. This is clear from her work in education, mentor programs, volunteering with programs for those with special needs, and general community leadership.

Weatherford’s voice on the board would speak to those who are not often considered — the poor and working class, and those of all backgrounds. Certified and classified members have an ally in her in the struggle for democracy and free speech, better pay and working conditions, class size, student opportunities, and classroom-centered budget plans.

As an educator and union representative, I believe she will be an important voice for our district as we go into a tumultuous political and economic future.
